Rick is Co-Founder and General Partner at Equal Ventures, a $56m seed-stage fund focused on "bridging the digital divide" by partnering with innovators and incumbents to help bring digital transformation to legacy industries. Rick focuses on investments in climate, supply chain, insurance and next-generation commerce and sits on the boards of David Energy, SmartHop, ThreeFlow, Leap Retail and others that are still in stealth.

Prior to co-founding Equal Ventures, Rick spent several years an investor at Lightbank, a $200m early-stage venture fund and incubator based in Chicago. Prior to Lightbank, Rick worked with investment firms Foundation Capital, Bowery Capital, and Lightview Capital, investing in technology companies across the capital spectrum from seed-stage to buy-out. Rick began his career as a strategy consultant  focused on energy and sustainability at Deloitte Consulting, working on a myriad of projects around clean energy, international development, smart grid, electric vehicles and energy efficiency.

Rick received an MBA with Honors from Columbia Business School and graduated from the University of Richmond where he studied Economics and Leadership Studies. When Rick isn’t working with founders he can usually be found in the Upper West Side with his wife, Lauren, their daughter, Sutton, and their dog, Archie.
