Luiz da Costa is the Director of Global Import-Export & Trade Compliance at Takeda Pharmaceuticals Int’l. He is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to ensure effective global cross border movement of materials to support R&D and clinical trial programs while in compliance with all applicable global import & export regulations. Luiz has been in the bio-pharmaceutical & medical devices industry since 1999.
His background includes hands-on experience with different government and private groups responsible for global import and export clearance regulations such as Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), US Dept. of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Bureau of Industry and Security Dept. of Commerce (BIS), Treasury Office of Foreign Trade Assets (OFAC) and other programs: trade compliance global internal auditing program; government sponsored supply chain security programs such as US Customs-Trade Partnership against Terrorism –CTPAT), Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), among others.
Luiz holds an MBA from Suffolk University, Frank Sawyer School of Management, Boston-MA; Customs Broker License issued by US Customs (CPB) and is a Certified Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO). Luiz is currently the President of CONECT-Coalition of New England Companies for Trade, serves as an advisory board member of the Export Alliance for the Massachusetts Export Center, as well as at the Health Industry Companies committee, organized under the American Association of Exporters & Importers. He is originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil and has been living in the United States for 32 years.
