Logistics & Log-Tech Director & Advisor

Alan is an accomplished C-suite leader and public, private equity and VC backed board director and advisor with deep experience in a broad range of logistics, log-tech and other industrial enterprises. He retired from UPS in June 2018 after 39 years. Alan served in many roles of increasing responsibility throughout his UPS career including VP International Marketing, VP Strategy, President UPS Canada and President UPS Asia, Europe, Middle East and Africa Supply Chain before joining the UPS Management Committee in 2007, the executive board of UPS.

As a member of the UPS Management Committee, for 11 years, Alan held various positions including SVP and President of UPS International (a $10.3B USD business unit at the time), SVP Global Sales and Marketing and also as the first EVP and Chief Commercial Officer of the company. In this role, as UPS EVP and CCO, Alan directed global strategy, mergers and acquisitions, sales, marketing, digital channels, new product and solution development, customer technology and experience management, advertising, public relations, customer communications, public affairs and key growth strategies across the enterprise. He led several strategic initiatives and significant

Coyote both accelerated UPS’ entry into the lucrative truckload market as well as provided over $100M in annual enterprise synergies. Marken propelled the UPS logistics healthcare strategy to major prominence and the JV with SF Express enabled UPS to accelerate growth to and from China. Alan also led the company wide strategic assessment, the precursor to the UPS transformation that was announced in late 2018. The transformation positioned the company to take advantage of record growth in demand for logistics services through greater utilization of advanced technologies that streamlined work processes and enhanced the customer experience driving top line growth while strengthening shareowner returns.

Since retiring from UPS, among other pursuits, Alan served as a board director of Worldwide Express through its merger with GlobalTranz, a strategic advisor to Deliverr through its acquisition by Shopify and as a board director of Cargojet, Canada’s leading cargo airline.
