Elaine Nessle

Director
Coalition for America's Gateways and Trade Corridors

Elaine Nessle is the Executive Director of the Coalition for America’s Gateways and Trade Corridors (CAGTC). CAGTC was founded in 2001 and is dedicated to the expansion and modernization of America’s freight and goods movement infrastructure. Its members include leading transportation associations, major ports, trade corridors, state and local government agencies, and individual rail, trucking, and engineering companies.

As CAGTC’s Executive Director, Elaine helps unite a large and growing number of public and private organizations around the need for increased federal investment in intermodal freight infrastructure. She manages the Coalition’s work to increase awareness of the benefits of trade infrastructure development and to coordinate legislative strategy and support. Elaine previously served as the Coalition’s Director of Operations and Advocacy. In that position, Elaine built grassroots and congressional support for CAGTC policies and provided Coalition members with legislative analysis and federal updates on areas affecting freight and goods movement.

Prior to her work with CAGTC, Elaine assisted in the development of a 200-page research paper documenting market entry opportunities for an aviation design firm. Following the completion of the paper, Elaine worked to increase the company’s name recognition through a strategic outreach campaign with appropriate regulatory agencies and congressional leaders. During this time, Elaine also earned media coverage for a number of traditional public relations clients by writing press releases and pitching stories.

Before joining CAGTC, Elaine wrote for the Elmira Star-Gazette, in Elmira, New York. During her time at the Star-Gazette — Gannett’s first newspaper — she reported for the daily newspaper and a monthly health magazine.

Elaine graduated from St. Bonaventure University with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications. Elaine is a native of Corning, New York.
