John has been employed with Cargo Transporters® for over 35 years and has served the company in numerous capacities. He started by washing trucks, changing oil and worked his way up. He has served as Chairman of the Board since 2005. John is a graduate of The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with majors in Business Administration and Operations Management. John serves on the Board of Directors for the Truckload Carrier Association, American Trucking Associations and several community non-profit groups. Appointed by Governor Cooper in 2017, John served on the North Carolina Board of Transportation until July 2020. He also has served on boards of the North Carolina Trucking Associations, YMCA, Chamber of Commerce, St Mark’s Lutheran church, ALFA, Outright Youth of Catawba Valley. He and the company give generously of their time and capital to improve the communities where the business operates. He resides in Hickory, NC.
