John “JT” Engstrom serves as FreightWaves’ Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing the Market Expert team of analysts, FreightWaves’ proprietary research group Freight Intel, and the commercial engagement team. Engstrom will also help with corporate strategy, partnerships, and prepare the company for the next stage of growth.Prior to joining FreightWaves, JT was a top Transportation & Logistics analyst and Wall Street investment banker at STIFEL. While at STIFEL, in partnership with Board of Advisors member John Larkin, JT was consistently ranked among the top three equity analysts by StarMine in both the road & rail as well as airfreight & logistics categories between 2014 and 2018. Throughout his tenure in investment banking in 2018 and 2019 JT focused on public market, private equity, and family office deals completing nearly $1 Billion in transactions in trucking and asset light logistics.Prior to that JT was in Oliver Wyman’s Transportation & Logistics management consulting practice. Engstrom’s first job out of college was writing route optimization models and algorithms for truckload carriers.
