Rick Paterson is an independent transportation analyst and former 22-year Wall Street veteran, where he conducted analysis on the US freight industries. With regard to the railroads, he testified at the STB hearings on inadequate rail service in 2022 and weak volume growth in 2024, and is the author and publisher of "The State of the Rails" weekly report on Class I operations. Prior experience includes intermodal sales and marketing at an Australian railroad.
